Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College men's soccer team fell to the Hofstra University Pride, 4-2, tonight on Leonidoff Field. It marked the Red Foxes third consecutive loss.
Hofstra opened the scoring five minutes into the game when Paul Saccoccio scored off a pass from Shaun Higgins 12 yards out. The Pride attacked again quickly scoring a goal in the sixth and seventh minute by Shaun Higgins and Michael Hermann, respectively, putting Hofstra up 3-0. Rishi Matadeen scored for the Pride in the 25th minute with a header. Chris Lefferts got the assist on the play.
Marist came out strong in the second half, scoring in the 45th minute. The goal came unassisted when Benjamin Castor (Richboro, Penn.) scored an unassisted goal.
Goalkeeper, Mike Valenti (Sicklerville, NJ) made 6 saves on the night for Marist.
The Red Foxes return to action Friday, September 20th, when they host Oregon State at 7:00 p.m. on Leonidoff Field.
