St. John's Drops Marist Volleyball 3-0

Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College's volleyball team lost by a score of 3-0 (30-11, 30-20, 30-14) to the St. John's Red Storm at the McCann Center this evening. The loss drops Marist to 2-4 on the season.

St. John's struck early, taking a 12-4 lead and won the first game. Marist came fighting back in the second game as they rallied from behind to tie it at 12-12. The Red Storm would then win four consecutive points before Marist countered with three points of their own to make it 16-15. At one point, the Red Foxes were trailing 24-20 before St. John's took the last six points to win the second game.

Marist was led by sophomore Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) with nine kills and five digs for the match. Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) added 22 assists while Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ) and Courtney Pusko (Cheshire, CT) chipped in with seven kills apiece.

St. John's (5-5) was led by Sarah McCrary and Jackie Ahlers with 14 and 11 kills, respectively. Robyn Kuraski added 36 assists for the Red Storm.

The Red Foxes return to action as they travel to New Haven, CT for the Yale Invitational that will be played this Friday and Saturday. The Red Foxes next match is at Hofstra next Tuesday before returning to the McCann Center when they host the Marist Invitational on Friday, September 20th, and Saturday, September 21st.
