Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College running back Alfredo Riullano (Callicoon, NY) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Football League, Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced this morning by the league office. The award is the first of the year for Riullano, and the second offensive honor for the Red Foxes.

Riullano nearly single handily led the Red Foxes to a 28-0 win over MAAC opponent Canisius on Saturday night. The senior rushed for 112 yards on only 20 carries, and scored three touchdowns for Marist. Riullano scored from 15 yards out in the first half and then scored from eight yards and five yards in the third quarter to account for the first 21 of Marist's points in the game. He averaged 5.6 yards per carry in the game, his second straight 100-yard plus effort.

Riullano has scored five touchdowns in the Red Foxes first two games, good for 30 total points. The 15 point per game average is tops among all I-AA players. In that time he has also rushed for 236 total yards, which is good for 118 per game, 10th in the nation.

Over the course of his two-plus seasons with the Red Foxes, Riullano has rushed for 1.438 yards, fourth highest total since the program moved to the I-AA level. He is a touchdown shy of equaling his six TD's he recorded the two previous seasons, bringing his career touchdown total to 17.

Marist, now 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in MAAC play, is ranked fourth in the Sports Network Mid-Major I-AA Poll. The Red Foxes will take to the road for the first time, traveling to Pittsburgh, PA for a conference game with Duquesne, who is currently ranked second in the Mid-Major Poll.
