Men's Soccer Wins First Match Over Fordham 2-1

Bronx, NY - The Marist College men's soccer team won their first match of the year by defeating Fordham 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Red Foxes improved to 1-5 on the season.

The scoring began when Kyle Nunes (Ossining, NY) connected on an unassisted goal from six yards out at the 25-minute mark. Fordham (3-4) would respond with a goal of their own at the 37-minute mark in the first half to tie the game at 1-1.

Benjamin Castor (Richboro, PA) scored the game-winner with 10 minutes to go from the top left corner off a pass from Patrick Safino (Simsbury, CT). Marist outshot the Rams 20-4 as Mike Valenti (Sicklerville, NJ) collected three saves in the win.

The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, October 2nd, when they travel to Stony Brook for a 7:00 p.m. match.
