Women's Soccer Loses to St. Bonaventure 3-1
Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's soccer team lost for the first time this season, falling 3-1 to St. Bonaventure on Leonidoff Field.
St. Bonaventure scored first when Lisa Nicola took a shot off a corner kick in the 14th minute. Six minutes later, midfielder Katie Fredlund scored with what ended up being the deciding goal when she converted a rebound from a missed shot by Cheryl Benacci.
The Red Foxes got on the board in the first half when Stacy Ryan (Kensington, CT) scored in the 20th minute off a cross by Jenny Greenbaum (Northport, NY). It was Ryan's first goal of the year and Greenbaum's second assist.
In the second half, St. Bonaventure sealed the victory when Lois Bennett scored an unassisted goal from 25 yards out in the 48th minute.
The next test for Marist is this Sunday, September 8th, when they host Bucknell on Leonidoff Field at 2 p.m. It is the first game of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team.
