Riverdale, NY-The Marist College women's basketball team fell to the Manhattan College Jaspers 56-38 this afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium. The Red Foxes are now 6-7 on the season, and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Marist fell behind by 14 points in the first half, but made a run in the final five minutes to pull within eight, making the score at halftime 31-23.
Manhattan took advantage early in the second half, going on a 12-1 run in the first nine minutes, while holding the Red Foxes to one field goal with almost eight minutes left in the game. The Jaspers held the Red Foxes to only 15 points in the second half.
Maureen Magarity (Wappingers Falls, NY) led the Red Foxes in scoring with 11 points, while Kristin Keller (Millbrook, NY) grabbed the most rebounds with 12.
The Jaspers had four players score in double digits with Tiffany Schettig and Sioban Kilkenny leading all scorers with 12 apiece. Christine Bach and Rosalee Mason finished with 11 and ten, respectively.
Marist shot for 21 percent from the field, while Manhattan shot 36 percent.
The Red Foxes return to action Thursday, January 16th, when they host Rider University in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at the McCann Center.
