Niagara, NY - Marist College men's soccer team defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rival Niagara 2-1 today. The Red Foxes are now 7-2-1 on the year as they prepare to face MAAC rival Canisus on Sunday.

The Red Foxes (7-2-1/2-1) opened the scoring a mere three minutes into the first half as freshman midfield Keith Detelj (Sayville, NY/Connetquot) scored his fifth goal of the season. Sophomore back Peter Rea (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left in the first half off a double assist from junior forward Patrick Safino (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) and sophomore midfielder Benjamin Castor (Richboro, PA/Council Rock).

Niagara would close out the scoring with an unassisted goal two minutes into the second half.

The Red Foxes will continue their tour of the northern MAAC schools when they face Canisus on Sunday at 1:00pm
