Marist Drops to Manhattan in Three Games

Oct. 15, 2003

Box Score

Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College volleyball dropped their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game tonight at the McCann Center 3-0 to rival Manhattan. The Jaspers improve their win streak to six game and four games in the MAAC while the Red Foxes fall 2-1 in conference play.

The Red Foxes (10-16/2-1 MAAC) would keep the game interesting as they would rally point for point during the first part of each game, however the rally would fall short to the Jasper defense.

Freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA/El Molino) led the Red Fox cause with a team high .375 hitting percentage behind eight kills and a mere two errors. Freshman outside hitter Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX/James Bowie) collected a team leading nine kills along with five digs while junior setter Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS/NE Oklahoma A&M) led the defense with eight digs. Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) chipped in 29 assists to bring her grand total to 853 on the season.

Senior setter Goedel Van Cauteren (Oetingen, Belgium/SW Missouri State) collected a double double on the night with 11 kills and 20 assists while sophomore outside hitter Ashley Davis (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) collected a game high five aces.

The Red Foxes will be in action again on Friday night at 5:00pm when they travel to New Rochelle to face MAAC rival Iona. Marist will then travel back to the McCann Center to host St. Peter's on Sunday at 1:00pm.
