Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College volleyball dropped a three game decision to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival St. Peter's today at the McCann Center. The Red Foxes are still knocking on the door of their 11th season victory, which would place them one game better than last season.
The Red Foxes (10-18/2-3MAAC) would fall to the Peahens 30-21 and 30-24 in the first two games, however Marist would rally and lead for most of the third game before dropping a 30-24 final.
Freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville,CA/El Molino) posted a team leading .471 hitting percentage behind 10 kills and two errors. Freshman middle blocker Jamie Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) also collected 10 kills while sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) added 36 assists, eight digs and five kills to the Red Fox effort.
The Peahens were led by freshman middle blocker Serra Soylu (Istanbul, Turkey/Uskudar) earning a game high .576 hitting percentage behind 20 kills, four aces, six digs and two block solos. Adding to the Peahen cause was freshman middle blocker Sasha Pshenvchka (Odessa, Ukraine/School No. 89) and freshman outside hitter Tara Teslaa (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) with 13 and 10 kills apiece.
The Red Foxes will continue their home court advantage as they host Binghamton on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00pm.
