Albany, NY - The Marist College volleyball team blanked Providence College and Sacred Heart today at the Albany Tournament. The Red Foxes are now only one win away from tying last seasons final record with 13 matches left to play.
Marist played a nearly flawless match against Providence as they only committed 18 total errors posting a .263 over-all hitting percentage. However, the Red Foxes would play two nail-biting games against Sacred Heart finishing the first game with a 30-28 win followed by a 31-29 win in the second game.
Freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA/El Molino) led the Red Foxes with a .857 hitting percentage behind 12 kills, zero errors, and two aces against Providence. Freshman outside hitter Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) collected 13 kills while rookie outside hitter Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX/ James Bowie) posted eight kills and a team high 13 digs.
Kenworthy would lead the offensive attack against Sacred Heart earning a .350 hitting percentage behind 10 kills while junior setter Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS/NE Oklahoma A&M) collected 11 kills and six digs.
Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) added a total 67 assists between both games while classmate libero Katie Lux (Wantagh, NY/Sacred Heart) contributed 18 digs to the Red Fox effort.
The Red Foxes will host MAAC rival Fairfield on Tuesday, October 8th at 7:00pm in the McCann Center.
