Lawrenceville, NJ-The Marist College women's tennis team served up its first dual match win of the season defeating Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Rider 6-1. The Red Foxes move to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC.
In singles play, sophomore Yana Tikhonko defeated Amanda Doetsch in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Diana Perachio notched the victory over Meredith Dossin, 6-2, 6-0 and Yana Krugly downed Carolina Duval, 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Megan Gureck played well for the Red Foxes, defeating Logan Kapinus in three sets, 7-6, 7-5, 6-0, while Courtney McGeever beat Dana Previti in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Katie Szymanski won her first set against Kelly Chouinard, but could not hold on for the victory falling, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, (10-6).
The Red Foxes swept doubles play, with Perachio and Gureck defeating Doestch and Dossin, 8-2 in the number one spot. The duo of Tikhonko and Krugly downed Kapinus and Previti, 8-1, while McGeever and Szymanski notched the win over Duval and Toni-Lynn Gross, 8-2.
The Red Foxes hit the court on Sunday, October 12th, as they travel to Providence College for a non-conference match against the Friars.
