Sally Hanson Drills Game Winning Ace

Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College volleyball finished the 2003 season with sweep against non-conference rival Army tonight in the McCann Center. The Red Foxes finish their year 14-21 which is their best record since joining the MAAC.

The Red Foxes steamrolled the first game 30-19 however took it to the wire for game two winning 31-29.

Marist would trail by more than six points during the final game but fought back to tie the game 27-27 after freshman outside hitter Jamie Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) hammered the ball into the Black Knights court.

The game would be tied two more times before freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA/El Molino) served the game-winning ace for the season finale game.

Kenworthy led the Red Fox attack with 14 kills while Hanson came up with 13 kills. Senior middle blocker Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) finished her career leading with a .421 game hitting percentage behind 12 kills on the game.

Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) finished the year with 41 assists on the game while libero Katie Lux (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and outside hitter Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) led the Marist defense with 14 and 15 digs respectively.

The Red Foxes will be a force to be reckon with during the 2004 season as they return all but one player from their roster.
