WEST HARTFORD, CT - The women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season falling 69-65 to the University of Hartford in double-overtime at the Chase Family Arena on Saturday.

Marist led by as many as 14 points in the second half, but the Hawks slowly narrowed the gap and used a 24-10 run over the final nine minutes to take a two-point lead at 53-51 with 30 seconds remaining. However, Maureen Magarity's layup with 15 seconds to go tied the score at 53-53 and sent the game to overtime.

The teams traded baskets in the first overtime period and the game went to a second overtime when Liz Stich hit a runner in the lane to tie the game at 59-59 with six seconds left.

After consecutive Marist baskets by Kristin Keller and Stephanie Del Preore to open the second overtime, the Hawks outscored the Red Foxes 10-2 the rest of the way to secure their first victory of the season.

Del Preore led Marist with a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds. Magarity also finished in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds for the Red Foxes. Senior Nina Vecchio, finished with six points on the night, scoring her 500th career point midway through the first half.

The Red Foxes return to action on Monday, November 24th at 7:00pm for their home opener against Lehigh.
