Final Stats
Baltimore, MD - The Marist College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet today against Old Dominion and host UMBC. The men defeated Old Dominion 208-91, but lost their first meet of the season to UMBC 167-129, and are now 11-1 on the year. The women lost to UMBC 188-105 and Old Dominion 175-118, as they fall to 6-7 on the season.
Michael Guman (Stratford, CT) led the men with wins on both boards, taking the 1-meter dive (224.50) and 3-meter dive (226.20). Trevor Charles (Middletown, CT) finished first in the 100 backstroke (53.24) and placed second in both the 200 backstroke (1:54.19) and 200 individual medley (1:56.97).
Matthew Castillo (Jamaica, NY) was the winner in the 200 individual medley (1:56.86), while finishing second in the 200 freestyle (1:43.56). Ricky Kapusta (Stamford, CT) tied for first place with UMBC's Brad Green in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.92, while also placing second in the 100 freestyle (47.94).
Amber Van De Carr (Rhinebeck, NY) won the 1-meter dive (212.60) and placed third in the 3-meter dive (212.50) behind teammate Missy Gifford (Glens Falls, NY), who won that event with a score of 215.30. Jennifer Meyer (Fairport, NY) swam to a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (25.72) and a third place finish in the 100 freestyle (56.98). Sarah McKinney (Schaumburg, IL) placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:00.98) for the Red Foxes.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, February 8th, when they host Lehigh at the McCann Center Natatorium for the final dual meet of the regular season. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
