JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Rafael Martinez scored the final four points in the
last 12 seconds of the game to give St. Peter's a 72-68 win over Marist on
Wednesday night.
Martinez grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back in with 12 seconds to
go to give St. Peter's its first lead of the night at 70-68. He then made two
free throws with 1.1 seconds left to seal the win.
St. Peter's trailed by 15 points early in the second half, but went on a 9-0
run that cut the lead to 43-37 with 15:45 left. The Peacocks climbed into a
61-61 tie with 4:42 to go on a dunk by Devin Thompson.
Martinez finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Keydren Clark had 24
points for St. Peter's (8-14, 5-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Nick Eppehimer had 21 points and nine rebounds for Marist (9-13, 5-8). Chris
Handy added 11 for the Red Foxes.
