Buffalo, NY- The Marist College women's basketball team fell to the Niagara University Purple Eagles, 90-56 this evening at the Gallagher Center. The Red Foxes lost for the third straight game for the first time this season as they fall to 10-12 on the season and 6-7 in conference action.
Niagara came out in the second half firing, as it went on a 13-0 run in the first four minutes, making the score 56-27. The Purple Eagles shot 64.3 percent in the second, while the Red Foxes shot 42.3 percent.
Freshman guard, Kristen Vilardi (Fishkill, NY) led Marist in scoring with nine points, while Maureen Magarity (Wappingers Falls, NY) led in rebounding with eight. Nina Vecchio (Holmdel, NJ) and Megan Vetter (Havertown, PA) each handed out four assists.
Niagara's Eva Cunningham led all scorers with 19 points as the Purple Eagles saw five players score in double digits. Jessica Kemp led the team in rebounds with six.
The Red Foxes return to action Sunday, February 16th, when they travel to Canisius College to take on the Golden Griffs with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
