Red Foxes Fall To Manhattan, 74-53

Feb. 6, 2003

Box Score

NEW YORK (AP) - Luis Flores scored 26 points, including 17 in a decisive first half, and Manhattan extended the nation's second-longest winning streak to 14 games by beating Marist 74-53 Thursday night.

Manhattan (18-3, 11-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic), which trails only Louisville's 16-game winning streak, broke open the game with a 9-1 run that created an 18-10 advantage midway through the opening half.

Dave Holmes scored four of his 19 points during that spurt, which ended in Mike Konovelchick's three-pointer.

The Jaspers continued to pull away by pouring in nine of the last 13 points in the half to take a 40-21 margin at the break. Konovelchick, who finished with 16 points, scored the last five points for Manhattan before the break.

Marist (8-12, 4-7) never seriously threatened in the second half. The Jaspers roared to their biggest lead, 58-26, on 12 straight points. Holmes provided the first seven of those with two scores inside and a 3-pointer from the top of the arc.

Manhattan connected on 8-of-19 from 3-point range to just 4-of-22 for Marist. Nick Eppehimer paced the Red Foxes with 17 points.
