Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's basketball team falls to the Siena Saints 69-38, suffering their worse loss of the season, this afternoon at the McCann Center. The Red Foxes drop to 10-11 overall and 6-6 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
Siena took the lead with 16:49 left in the first and led by nine at the half after they were up by 18 at one point. The Saints largest lead of the game was 34 in the second half when Sherron Burgess hit a lay-up with 2:50 remaining in the game.
Junior forward Maureen Magarity (Wappingers Falls, NY) led the Red Foxes with nine points, while Kerry Sullivan (Crompond, NY) led her teammates in rebounds with six.
Siena's Liene Jansone notched a double-double scoring 27 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. Mary McKissack scored in double digits with 10, while handing out three assists.
Marist shot 23.6 percent from the field while Siena shot 37.9 percent. The Saints 22 points off turnovers with the Red Foxes scoring five.
The Red Foxes return to action Friday, February 14th, when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Purple Eagles of Niagara University at 7:00 p.m. Marist then takes on Canisius on Sunday, February 16th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alumni Recreation Center.
