St. Bonaventure, NY - The Marist College women's tennis team earned a split today at St. Bonaventure, winning easily over Canisius, 7-0, and falling to Niagara, 6-1, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Saturday. The Red Foxes are now 7-1 on the season, with a 3-1 record in the MAAC.
Against Niagara, Colleen Kelly (Poughkeepsie, NY) picked up the only singles win for Marist, defeating Kendra Daigler 7-5, 6-2. In doubles, the Red Foxes took one of the three matches as Yana Tikhonko (Brooklyn, NY) and Yana Krugly (Staten Island, NY) won 8-4 over Matijevic and Willick.
In the win over Canisius, Tikhonko won easily over Kiwanna Felton, 6-1, 6-0, while Krugly earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jenelle Kostran. Tara Dolan (Hopewell Junction, NY) won a close match over Anne Nguyen 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), and Courtney McGeever (Wickliffe, OH) captured a straight set victory over Kristen McKay 6-0, 6-3.
Kelly earned another singles win on the day, beating Andrea Meyer 6-1, 6-1, while Katie Szymanski (Scituate, MA) won 6-0, 6-0 over Kara Fahey.
In doubles, Marist swept the three matches to pick up the seventh and final point.
The Red Foxes return to action on Sunday, March 30th, when they take on host St. Bonaventure at 9:00 a.m.
