Jersey City, NJ - The Marist College baseball team extended their winning streak to three games by taking both games of the doubleheader against St. Peter's in Jersey City on Saturday, winning by scores of 7-5 and 16-2. The Red Foxes improve to 10-8 on the season, and are now 3-2 in the MAAC, while St. Peter's falls to 0-12, and are 0-5 in the conference.
In the 7-5 win, Keith Brachold (Attleboro, MA) and Tim Allen (Wappingers Falls, NY) each went 3-5 at the plate, while Mike Sidoti (Staten Island, NY), John McGorty (West Sayville, NY), and Jimmy Board (Ambler, PA) had two hits apiece. McGorty also connected for a home run in the win.
In game two, the Red Foxes pounded out 20 hits, led by Brachold's 4-4 performance, which included a home run, four runs scored, and four RBI. Kevin Grauer (Plain City, OH), McGorty, and Tyler Brock (Georgetown, DE) also homered for Marist in the victory. Grauer also collected four hits.
Chuck Bechtel (Royersford, PA) pitched a complete game, as he had 13 strikeouts in seven innings, while giving up two runs on nine hits.
The Red Foxes return to action on Sunday, March 30th, when they take on St. Peter's in Jersey City, NJ for the series finale at 12:00 p.m.
