Brachold Homers Twice, Drives In Eight, In 15-8 Win Over Hofstra On Wednesday.

Hempstead, NY--The Marist College baseball team defeated host Hofstra this afternoon, 15-8, behind the bat of sophomore Keith Brachold. The Red Foxes improve to 19-10-1 with the win, and are now 13-2-1 in the last 16 games played. Hofstra falls to 7-23 on the year with the loss to Marist.

Brachold had a career day for the Red Foxes, going 5-6 with eight RBI, two homeruns, a double and two runs scored for the Red Foxes. He has now hit safely in 15 straight games for the Red Foxes.

Hofstra struck first, with two runs in the first, and Marist got one back in the second, before tallying five runs in the top of the third, taking a 6-2 lead. the Pride andwered with three in the bottom of the inning and tied the game with a single run in the fourth, all six runs coming off of Marist starter Ryan Kondratowicz.

The Red Foxes retook the lead in the fifth with three runs, and then added one in the sixth, two in the seventh and three more insurance runs in the eighth to complete their scoring on the afternoon.

Tim Allen was 4-5 with a homerun, a double, two RBI and two runs scored on the afternoon, while Mike Sidoti was 3-6 with two doubles and and RBI. Jimmy Board went 1-4, with a homerun, and walked twice, finishing with three runs scored and two RBI on the afternoon. Marist finished the game with nine extra base hits on the afternoon, finishing with a season-high 20 base hits.

Travis Timmons allowed three runs on four hits in his 3.0 innings of work, to earn the win, and improve to 2-1 on the year. Marist pitching had four strikeouts on the afternoon, allowing seven earned runs and 10 base hits.

The Red Foxes will return to action this Saturday, hosting Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) double-header, beginning at noon. The teams will finish the three-game set on Monday, at 3:00 pm at the McCann Baseball Field.
