Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College men's soccer team recorded win number two on Leonidoff field tonight as they defeated Fordham 2-1. The Red Foxes are now 2-0-1 on the season while the Rams are now 1-2-0.
Junior midfielder Matthew Flaherty (Fishkill, NY/John Jay) opened the scoring off a cross from junior midfielder Ricky Cusano (Pomona, NY/North Rockland) into the right corner of the net. Cusano would then finish the scoring attack with the game-winning goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Matthew Partain (Poughkeepsie, NY/Rutgers) seven minutes into the second half.
The Rams would not end the game scoreless as freshman forward Janko Stukic (London, Ontario/Regina Mundi) shot a breakaway into the upper left corner of the Marist goal in the 77th minute of play.
Cusano currently leads the Red Foxes with six points behind four assists and a goal while Bruno Machado (Danbury, CT/Danbury) has four points behind two goals on the season.
The Red Foxes will take to the road on Wednesday, September 17th when they head to Hempstead, NY to face Hofstra at 7:00pm while the Rams head back home to host Long Island University on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00pm.
