Hempstead, NY - The Red Foxes continued their win streak as they defeated Hofstra tonight 3-1. The win tonight against the Pride marks the fourth year in a row that the visiting team has won between the two schools as Hofstra defeated the Red Foxes 4-2 last year on Leonidoff Field.
Freshman forward Keith Detelj (Sayville, NY/Connetquot) scored the game-winning goal just under 14 minutes in regulation after a defensive giveaway by the Pride near midfield. Junior midfielder David Musinski (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) took a breakaway shot that deflected off the post. Detelj then beat the Hofstra defense to slip the ball between the posts two-yards out.
The Pride opened the scoring in the eighth minute of play however, the Red Foxes answered back midway through the first half as Musinski one-timed a crossing pass from junior midfielder Matt Flaherty (Fishkill, NY/John Jay).
Marist would close out the scoring attack when sophomore midfielder Kyle Nunes (Ossining, NY/Ossining) scored on a rebound shot by Detelj.
The Red Foxes will be on the road again this Saturday as they face Binghamton at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 20th. The Pride will also be on the road as they travel to Stony Brook on Saturday for a 2:00pm contest.
