Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College rallied in all three games but fell short of a win against non-conference rival Colgate tonight at the McCann Center. The visiting Raiders would blank the Red Foxes 3-0 (30-28, 32-30, 30-26).
Colgate would commit three consecutive attack errors to tie the score 28-28 in the second game of the night. The Raiders would go back on top after an attack error made by the Red Fox offense. Senior middle blocker Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) would tie the score for the second time on the game 29-29. Marist then committed a service error to give the lead back to the Raiders, however the score would be tied for a third and final time at 30-30 after a kills by freshman outside hitter Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX/James Bowie).
Brozek led the Marist attack with a .391 hitting percentage behind 11 kills and only two errors on the game. Miksch would contribute nine kills and 13 digs while junior setter Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS/NE Oklahoma A&M) and freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guernville, CA/El Molino) both collected eight kills.
Marist Volleyball will head south for the weekend to take part in the University of Pennsylvania Tournament. The Red Foxes will face Robert Morris and St. John's on Friday, September 26th at 12:30pm and 5:30pm respectively. The Red Foxes will continue the action on Saturday, September 27th as they face Albany and U. Penn. at 10:00am and 3:00pm respectively. Colgate will host conference rivals Holy Cross and Army over the weekend.
