Philadelphia, PA - The Marist College volleyball team dropped the opening two games of the University of Pennsylvania Invitational today. The Red Foxes fell to Robert Morris 3-1 (30-23,23-30,17-30, 21-30) followed by a 3-0 (30-24, 30-21, 30-19) loss to St. John's.
Senior middle blocker Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) led the Red Fox rally against Robert Morris with 18 kills while freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA/El Molino) posted a team high .432 hitting percentage behind 11 kills, 0 errors, 26 total attacks, and four aces. Freshman outside hitter Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) collected 12 kills and 11 digs while classmate setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) chipped in 45 assists on the game.
Freshman outside hitter Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX/James Bowie) would lead the Red Fox Offense against St. John's collecting six kills while sophomore Katie Lux (Wantagh, NY/Sacred Heart) led the defense with six digs.
Marist will hit the court again tomorrow as they face Albany at 10:00am followed by a 3:00pm match against host University of Pennsylvania.
