KINGSTON RI- The Marist College men's swimming and diving team improved to 8-1 on the season as they defeated the University of Rhode Island 175-105 this afternoon.
Freshman Brandon Youse and junior Jeffrey Paul powered the Red Foxes as each earned two first place finishes. Youse took the 100-yard backstroke (54.85) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.74) while Paul picked up victories in the 100-meter free (48.15) and the 50-free (21.89)
Junior Matt Castillo earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.09. Sophomore Kevin Connors took first in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:00.03 while senior Robert Dunn earned the top-spot in the 200-breaststroke (2:11.09).
Marist also swam to victory in the 200-yard medley relay with Youse, Castillo, Paul and Will Reagan finishing in a time of 1:36.40.
Senior Anthony Manza (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) had a solid day diving taking first in the 1-meter (205.80) and the 3-meter (197.78).
The Red Foxes return to action on January 31st at noon as they face UMBC at the McCann Center.
