Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Siena this evening, 3-2. The Red Foxes mounted a comeback after being down 2-0 at the half, tying the game at 2-2 with back-to-back goals from Lauren Dziedzic (Southington, CT) and Jenna McCrory (N. Kingstown, RI). The Saints snuck in a late-game goal to take the MAAC victory.

Both teams spent the first quarter of the game trading possessions and shots until Siena's Corry Silon took matters into her own hands, firing a rocket from 25 yards out to give the Saints the 1-0 lead. The Red Foxes maintained control of the ball for much of the remaining time in the half, until Siena's Susie Blaisdell capitalized on a rebounded shot, with an assist from Kara Sefcik. The Saints took a 2-0 lead into the half after scoring with just 16 seconds remaining in the first.

Marist came back in the second, as Dziedzic netted her first goal of the season at 61:06 off a corner kick from freshman Kristina Anderson (Tomkins Cove, NY). McCrory got in on the scoring with a solo shot of her own just two minutes later to knot the score at two all. It was her third goal of the season. The two teams traded possessions and fouls on the rainy pitch until Siena's Kristen Turner slipped one past Marist rookie goalkeeper Liz Herber (Scottsdale, AZ) with just five minutes remaining in play. The Red Foxes could not mount a comeback and the Saints took the 3-2 victory, improving their record to 7-7 (4-1 MAAC). With the loss, Marist fell to 3-12 (1-4 MAAC).

The Lady Red Foxes will be in action again next Friday Oct. 22 when they host Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Leonidoff Field.
