The Marist women's volleyball team was dealt a loss at the hands of Central Connecticut State this evening, 3-0. The Blue Devils hit .396 on the night, while the Red Foxes could never manage to get an offensive run going.
Central took game one, 30-10, hitting an impressive .485 and stifling the Red Foxes' offense. Marist fought back early in game two, but a series of mini-runs by the Blue Devils gave them the 30-17 victory. The results were the same in game three, with Central topping Marist 30-17 for the 3-0 match win. The Red Foxes managed to stop Central Connecticut throughout games two and three, but struggled to get on a run of more than two straight points.
Sophomore Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) led Marist, tallying five kills and leading the defense with nine digs. Classmate Kelly Teagle (Hopewell Junction, NY) notched five kills, hitting .364 for Marist. Junior setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) recorded four kills, eight digs and 13 assists.
The Blue Devils were led by Jennifer Cote, who recorded 15 kills and nine digs and Jackie Jackson, who tallied 11 kills on the night.
The Red Foxes will be in action again on Sunday Oct. 24 as they look to bounce back against MAAC foe, St. Peter's in Jersey City, NJ at 1:00 p.m.
