POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -
The Marist women's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime draw with Fairfield this evening on a chilly Leonidoff Field. Marist goalkeeper Danielle Cibelli (Paramus, NJ) had a stellar night in goal for the Red Foxes, making 12 saves.
The Lady Red Foxes recorded 13 shots to Fairfield's 18 on the night. The Stags controlled the offensive tempo early in the first half, taking eight shots to Marist's one, forcing Cibelli to make five stops. The Red Foxes turned it around in the second, taking nine shots, but were unable to convert. Once the game went into overtime, both teams traded quick offensive possessions, though neither could find the back of the net for a sudden victory win.
The Red Foxes offense was led by sophomore Justine Caccamo (Bohemia, NY) and senior captain Courtney Moore (Harwinton, CT), who recorded three and two shots, respectively, collecting all of Marist's shots on goal.
Marist women's soccer will be in action again on Sunday Oct. 24 when it hosts MAAC foe Iona in its final home match of the season. The team will honor senior tri-captains Moore, Laura Clark and Libby Ludwig before the start of the game.
