Men's Soccer Stops Fairfield 1-0

Fairfield, Conn. - Sophomore forward Keith Detelj scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season late in the first half to lead the Red Foxes (7-4, 4-0 MAAC) to their fifth consecutive victory, a 1-0 win over host Fairfield.

With 1:35 remaining before halftime, Detelj stole the ball from a Stags defender in the box and beat goalkeeper Andrew Frankel for the game's only score.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Valenti made two saves to record his fifth consecutive shutout, extending the school record. Frankel made two saves for Fairfield (5-5-3, 2-3-1 MAAC). Marist, ranked seventh in the latest NSCAA New York Region poll, moves to 4-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play for the first time since joining the MAAC in 1997.

The Red Foxes are back in action Sunday at conference rival Iona. Game time is 3 p.m.
