The Marist volleyball team lost to St. Peter's, 3-2 this afternoon at the Yanitelli Center. Three Marist players recorded double-digit kills and four had double-digit digs in the losing effort.
After edging out the Peahens, 30-28 on .375 hitting in game one, the Red Foxes lost momentum and St. Peter's took control, picking up resounding wins in games two and three. Marist rebounded in game four with a solid 30-22 victory, forcing the match to go five games. The Peahens cranked out a 15-11 win in the decisive game, in which both teams struggled offensively.
Sophomore Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX) led the way for the Lady Red Foxes, recording 12 kills and 10 digs, while classmate Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA), continued to lead the Marist offense, producing 11 kills on .556 hitting as well as notching five blocks. Rookie Christy Lukes (Mesa, AZ) also picked up double-digit kills with 11. Sophomore Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) was just one kill shy of a double-double, with nine kills and 17 digs on the day. Classmate Dominique O'Sullivan (Anaheim, CA) paced the defense with 19 digs on the afternoon.
Three Peahens picked up double-doubles in the win, with Valeria Kovaleva recording a triple-double, with 10 kills, 49 assists and 17 digs. Sasha Pshenychka paced the offense with 20 kills for St. Peter's.
The Red Foxes will be back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 27) when they return home to the McCann Center to take on Iona at 7:00 p.m.
