The Marist women's volleyball team fell to Fairfield, 3-0 this afternoon in a tough Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup. Despite solid rallies in games two and three, the Red Foxes could not get the better of the Stags.
The Stags came out swinging, taking a decisive game one win, 30-14 over the Lady Red Foxes. Marist fought back in game two, hitting a solid .351 as a team and overcoming an early deficit to tie the game late. However, the Stags had some hard hitting of their own, boasting a .450 percentage and sneaking past the Red Foxes, 30-28. Marist continued to rally in game three, but Fairfield's late game surge pushed them past the Foxes, 30-24.
Sophomore Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA) led the Red Foxes with eight kills while classmate Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) recorded seven kills and eight digs in another solid effort. Rookie Christy Lukes (Mesa, AZ) hit an impressive .600, good for seven kills as well as one service ace and two blocks.
The Red Foxes will be in action again on Wednesday Nov. 3 when they take on the Jaspers of Manhattan in Riverdale at 6:00 p.m.
