Riverdale, NY - The Marist women's volleyball team won a dogfight tonight as they took out Manhattan College, 3-2. Junior captain Katie Lux (Wantagh, NY) had an explosive night, leading the Red Foxes defense with a career-high 45 digs as Marist out-dug the Jaspers 125-92 in the win.

Each game was a fight as the Red Foxes managed to pull away the 3-2 win, 30-23, 25-30, 30-24, 25-30, 16-14. While the defending MAAC Champion Jaspers put up a solid fight, the Lady Red Foxes proved they would not back down from a challenge. Marist got off to a solid start, winning game one 30-23, hitting .241 percent and shutting down the Jaspers offensive attack.

Manhattan came back in game two, taking a 30-25 win, followed by a Marist 30-24 victory in game three. The Red Foxes could not hold on in game four, as the Jaspers hit .255 and pulled off a 30-25 victory to force game five. Just as the rest of the match had been a battle, so was game five. The Red Foxes came back from a 6-2 deficit early in the game to come away with the 16-14 win for the match.

Cochrane and McEathron also registered double-doubles for Marist, with Cochrane picking up 52 assists on the Red Foxes 58 kills while McEathron also adding 10 kills to her stat totals.

Sophomore Sally Hanson (Gureneville, CA) led the offense with 15 kills, hitting .310, and had nine digs, just shy of a double-double while classmate Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX) fell just shy herself, tallying a solid 11 digs and nine kills. Rookie Christy Lukes (Mesa, AZ) notched nine kills on .308 hitting, while tallying three blocks and senior captain Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS) recorded 10 digs and six kills.

Manhattan's Maggie Pfeifer led her squad with a double-double, tallying 24 kills on .345 hitting as well as 10 digs. Whitney Judkins had 19 kills and Ashley Davis recorded 29 digs to pace the Jasper defense.

The Red Foxes will be in action again on Monday Nov. 8 when they travel to Wagner to face the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m.
