Final Stats

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Senior Jerry Johnson scored 21 points to lead Rider to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over Marist Friday.

Rider (3-1, 1-0 MAAC) led 60-52 before Marist (2-4, 0-1 MAAC) went on an 8-2 run, four points each by Will Whittington and Ryan Stilphen, to cut the lead to 62-60 with 8:00 remaining. Whittington finished with 21 points off the bench, while Stilphen collected his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Whittington had a chance to give the Red Foxes the win, but his floater in the lane with 1.5 seconds was just short. Sophomore Jared Jordan also recorded his first career double double with 10 points and 10 assists while playing all 40 minutes.

Rider held a 74-72 lead before freshman Jason Thompson scored with 1:05 remaining to give Rider a 76-72 lead. Thompson finished with nine points and six rebounds off of the bench.

Will McClurkin also chipped in a career-high 22 points for Marist to go with eight rebounds.

Holding a 7-6 lead, Rider went on an 8-0 run, five points by Thompson, and led 15-6 seven minutes into the game. Rider led 37-19 with 4:08 left in the first half but Marist went on a 15-2 run to cut the lead to 39-34 with 18:36 left in the second half.

The Red Foxes will head home to face St. Peter's and MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Keydren Clark in their home opener on Monday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the McCann Center.
