Red Foxes Fall To Manhattan, 92-67

NEW YORK (AP) - Luis Flores scored 23 points, and Manhattan never trailed while beating Marist 92-67 Sunday in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Dave Holmes, Peter Mulligan and Kenny Minor each added 12 points for the Jaspers (22-5, 16-2).

Carl Hood connected six times from behind the three-point line as he paced Marist with a career-high 27 points. Rookie Will Whittington was also on from behind the arc in the game, draining four three-pointers, as he tallied his collegiate best, 14 points. Rookie Jared Jordan continued to play solidly for the Red Foxes, he scored 12 points, pulled in a team-high eight rebounds and had three assists in the game.

Manhattan took a 21-6 lead in the first 10˝ minutes and - with Flores scoring 11 points - led 37-18 at halftime. Marist shot just 24 percent in the first half to 44 percent for the Jaspers. Overall, Manhattan shot 51 percent and the Red Foxes 36 percent. The Jaspers had a 45-26 rebounding advantage.

Manhattan led by as much as 66-31 after Chris Johnson scored with 12:18 remaining.

The Jaspers will enter the MAAC tournament this week in Albany with a double bye into the semifinals as conference champion. Marist is the seeded ninth in Friday's first round.
