Red Foxes Unable To Hold Off George Washington Rally, Fall 13-12

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Marist College baseball team allowed eight unanswered runs in the final three innings, including a two-out, two strike walk-off homerun, and fell to George Washington 13-12, this afternoon in Washington DC.

The Red Foxes opened the contest with four runs in the first inning, and added two in the second, three in the third and a pair in the fourth. George Washington scored twice in the first inning, and three in the third, before tallying five in the bottom of the seventh and one in the eighth.

Keith Brachold led the Red Foxes effort with a 4-5 day at the plate, including a double. He had two runs and two RBI for the Red Foxes. Andy Kiriakedes was 2-5, with a homerun, two runs scored and an RBI on the afternoon, while Thomas Cicarone also added two hits and a run scored. Travis Musolf was 3-5 with an RBI and Tyler Brock added three RBI. Justin Lepore was 3-5 with a homerun, three RBI and three runs scored.

Rob Ryan took the loss, allowing the ninth inning homerun. In 1.2 innings pitched, he allowed just the one hit and struck out two, Lucas Robinson started for the Red Foxes, allowing five runs on five hits in 5.0 innings, while fanning five opponents. Travis Timmons pitched the sixth-inning, allowing five runs on three hits. Peter Fuller and Eric Supplee combined to toss the seventh inning for the Red Foxes, with Fuller walking a batter, and Supplee allowing a run on two hits.

Marist falls to 3-12 on the year and returns to action with road games at Stony Brook on Tuesday and Yale on Wednesday.
