Poughkeepsie, NY- The Marist College women's tennis team improved to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play, by edging Fairfield 4-2 this afternoon in Marist's first home match of the season.
In an exciting singles round, the Red Foxes took three out of five matches. Annabel Hicks came back from a first set loss to defeat senior Andrea Suriano, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, at the number three sport. At number four singles, sophomore Yana Krugly battled it out with senior Erin Reeves for the 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory. Junior Diana Perachio dropped her first dual match point of the season falling to Taylor Barvoets, 6-4, 6-4.
The Red Foxes earned the doubles point as Perachio and Hicks defeated Barvoets and Diana Webb, 8-6 while Krugly and Yana Tikhonko nipped Suriano and Reeves, 9-7.
The Red Foxes look to remain undefeated on Saturday, April 17th as they host Niagara at 10:00am.
