Baseball Falls 3-0 And 4-0 To Brown In Non-Conference Games

Norwich, CT - The Marist College baseball team dropped a non-conference double-header to Brown University this afternoon, 3-0 and 4-0, at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. The Red Foxes fall to 13-21 on the year, while Brown improves to 12-18 overall.

The Red Foxes managed just three hits in both of the two games, led by the 3-5 effort of Andy Kiriakedes, who went 2-2 in the second game. Keith Brachold posted 1-3 efforts at the plate in both contests, and Travis Musolf had the Red Foxes only other base hit in the two games, with a hit in the opener.

Peter Fuller (0-2) was the hard luck loser in the opener. He allowed two runs on three hits in his 5.0 innings of work. Erik Supplee allowed a run on two hits in his inning of relief.

Kevin Shurtleff (0-1) took the loss in game two for Marist, giving up two runs only one earned on five hits in 3.0 innings. He fanned two and walked one. Travis Timmons pitched a 1-2-3 fourth-inning, and Jonathan Smith allowed just one-hit in his inning of work. Brown scored a pair off of Kevin Kelly, who allowed two-hits in 0.1 innings, and Rob Ryan walked one, but faced just two batters, to record a hitless 0.2 innings of work to close out the pitching line.

Brown had three runs on five hits in the first game, and had four runs on eight hits in the night cap.

Marist returns to action on Saturday, April 24th, hosting Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, St. Peter's in a double-header scheduled for noon. The Red Foxes, winners of three straight MAAC games, conclude the three-game set with the Peacocks on Sunday, with first pitch also scheduled for noon.
