Musolf Tabbed MAAC Rookie Of The Week For Third Straight Week

Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College freshman baseball player Travis Musolf was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, announced this afternoon by the conference office. The award is the third consecutive honor for the rookie second baseman and the fourth Rookie of the Week accolade for the Red Foxes.

Musolf, a graduate of Manchester High School, hit .400 over the course of five games for the Red Foxes on the week, going 8-20. He had a hit in each of the five games, getting on base 11 times for an on-base percentage of 47.8 percent. He scored six runs for the Red Foxes, and recorded an RBI, and stole three bases. Musolf was solid in the field as well during the week, making 13 putouts and recording eight assists. In a win over LeMoyne he was 3-3 with two runs scored and was 2-4 with three runs scored in the series finale.

Musolf has raised his batting average to .312, with 53 base hits in a team-high 170 at-bats. He begins the week with a hit in each of the Red Foxes last seven games, and in 17 of the last 19. He has scored a team-best 38 runs in starting all 42 games that Marist has played. He has four doubles, two triples and a pair of homeruns, helping result in 20 RBI. He is on base 38.4 percent of the time, having earned 12 walks, and is slugging 39.4 percent. Musolf is also the team leader in stolen bases, swiping 15 of the 17 bases he has tried to steal on the year.

The Red Foxes are 19-23 overall on the year and are in second place in the MAAC at 12-6. Musolf will lead Marist in five games this week, two non-conference home games and a key three-game series at Niagara this weekend. The Red Foxes will host Pace Wednesday at 3:30, and Albany, Thursday, May 6th, at 3:30 pm.
