Marist Names Jason Corriher Sports Information Director

Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College Director of Athletics Tim Murray announced this morning that Jason Corriher has been named the Red Foxes Sports Information Director, assuming his post on June 21st.

"We are very excited to have Jason join the Red Fox family," Murray said. "Jason's experience working on a college campus and in a conference office will serve him well in his role at Marist College."

Corriher comes to Marist after serving as the Director of Public Relations at the Big South Conference since November just prior to serving as the league's Assistant Director of Public Relations for over a year. With the Big South, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations for the conference's Public Relations program. In that capacity, he was the primary contact for football, men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, baseball, while serving as the administrator for men's and women's golf. Corriher was also responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Conference's website, www.BigSouthSports.com and the league's record book.

Corriher earned his B.A. in Mass Communications from NC State in May 2000, where he was honored by CoSida in 1999 for his cross-country media guide, which was ranked fourth in the nation. Aside from his work at NC State, Corriher also served as a correspondent for Sports Ticker, covering the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes during the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons, including working the 2001 and 2002 NHL Playoffs and 2002 Stanley Cup Finals.

Corriher will be taking over for Chris O'Connor who has held the post for the last three years. O'Connor, 1998 graduate and former swimmer at Marist, will be getting married in July and relocating to St. Louis, Missouri.

Marist College is in its seventh season as a member of the 10-member, Division I MAAC and has shown continued prominence; becoming the first school in the conference's history to capture four consecutive Commissioner's Cup, for overall athletic excellence.
