The Marist women's soccer team fell to St. Bonaventure today in its final match of the Adidas Invitational. The Bonnies were paced by Kerry O'Malley, who scored two goals in the first half to put her team on top.
St. Bonaventure got on the board 15:00 into the first half, when Jacquee Parmiter found the back of the net off a pass from Kara Fleet. Parmiter would find herself in the thick of the action again less than 10 minutes later when she fed the ball to O'Malley for her first goal of the afternoon.
The Red Foxes struck back when sophomore Kristen Brady (Monmouth Beach, NJ) sent one home with help from classmates Lauren Dziedzic (Southington, CT) and Deirdre Murray (Belmar, NJ), to take the score to 2-1. St. Bonaventure managed to sneak one more goal past Danielle Cibelli (Paramus, NJ) before halftime, as O'Malley scored her second goal off an assist from Cheryl Benacci. Cibelli finished the afternoon with two saves in goal for Marist.
It was Marist who struck first in the second half, as senior Courtney Moore (Harwinton, CT) scored off a feed from sophomore Justine Caccamo (Bohemia, NY), pulling the Red Foxes within one. They could not mount a comeback however, and Emily Kridler sealed the game for St. Bonaventure with a goal at 76:23.
Liz Herber (Scottsdale, AZ) made her first collegiate appearance today, playing the entire second half in goal, picking up three saves.
The Red Foxes were outshot by the Bonnies, 16-10 in the loss.
Marist women's soccer will next be in action on Tuesday, Sept. 14 when the team travels to Burlington, VT to take on the Catamounts of the University of Vermont at 3:00 p.m.
