BRONX, N.Y.- Keith Detelj scored once and assisted on another goal to lead Marist College (1-2) to a 4-2 men's soccer win over Fordham University (0-5) on Murphy Field.

The Red Foxes got on the board early, scoring twice in the first eight minutes. In the second minute, Matt Flaherty broke in on the right side and beat Fordham goalkeeper Justin Burse to the far post from 20 yards out for a 1-0 Marist lead.

Just over five minutes later, Anthony Graci jumped on a rebound of a Detelj shot in front of the Fordham net and beat Burse from 10 yards to put the Red Foxes up 2-0.

The Rams pulled to within one in the 15th minute when Riad Mehovic fed David Jacques on the right side and Jacques one-timed a shot to the far post from 20 yards for his first collegiate goal.

Marist would regain a three goal lead in the 28th minute when Benjamin Castor blasted a shot on the ground from 25 yards for his first goal of the season.

The game would remain a 3-1 contest until the 73rd minute when Detelj took a direct kick from 25 yards that curved around the wall and past Burse.

Fordham pulled to within two four minutes later as Scott Felluss played a long ball down the right side from midfield which was collected by Mike Forenza. Forenza got off a shot over the head of Marist goalkeeper Mike Valenti and into the back of the net for his first career goal.

Valenti made three saves in net for the Red Foxes, who outshot Fordham 9-6, while Burse finished with two saves for the Rams.

Marist will next play on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Leonidoff Field against Albany.
