The Marist volleyball team fell to Delaware this evening, 30-26, 30-20, 30-22 in its second game of the Red Fox Classic. Senior Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS) paced the Red Foxes with 12 kills, while contributing two digs.
After a close first game, Delaware came out swinging in the second, taking the game 30-20. The Red Foxes picked up five quick points in the third, but the Blue Hen offense proved too strong and they took the game 30-22. Junior setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) contributed 29 assists on offense. Freshman Lauren Nikides (Zionsville, IN) and sophomore Jaime Kenworthy (Acton, PA) recorded nine digs each, while Kenworthy picked up five kills.
The Blue Hens were led by Valerie Murphy who recorded 15 kills, while three different players each had 12 digs. Heather Ranck led the Delaware attack with six service aces.
The Red Foxes, who fell to 5-4 with the loss, will be in action tomorrow, Sept. 18 at 10:00 a.m. against Brown and 2:00 p.m. against Holy Cross.
