The Marist volleyball team defeated Hartford this morning, 3-0. Sophomore Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA) recorded her third double-double in as many matches, hammering out 10 kills and 11 digs, along with three service aces. The Red Foxes came out swinging in game one, picking up a quick 30-18 victory. Hartford used its momentum from a late comeback in game one to start open up a quick lead over the Red Foxes early in game two. However, Marist would prove too strong for the Hawks as it came back to take the game 30-26 and game three, 30-23.
Sophomore Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) was just shy of a double-double as she recorded nine kills and nine digs in the win. Junior captain Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) paced the offense with 34 assists. Nine different Red Foxes tallied at least one kill in the win, good for a .349 team hitting percentage.
Jennifer Monroy led the Hawks with 10 kills and Lauren Flores recorded eight digs on defense.
The Red Foxes improved their record to 8-4 with the win, while Hartford fell to 4-10. Marist will next be in action this evening when it hosts West Virginia in the fourth game of the Marist Invitational Tournament.
