The Marist volleyball team defeated Columbia this afternoon, 3-0, in the final match of the Marist Invitational Tournament. The Red Foxes concluded their weekend with a 2-1 record, 9-5 overall.
In a hard fought match, the Red Foxes came out on top 30-26, 31-29, 31-29 to send the Lions home 0-3 on the weekend. Sophomore Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, PA) had another successful outing for Marist, slamming 16 kills as well as recording eight digs and two service aces. As a team, the Red Foxes hit an impressive .258 in the win while junior Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) recorded assists on 40 of the team's 50 total kills.
Sophomore Stefanie Miksch (Austin, TX) had a solid afternoon, posting 15 digs and eight kills. For her efforts this weekend, which included 28 kills and 22 digs, Miksch was named to the Marist Invitational All-Tournament team.
The Lions were led by Natalie Gerling, who recorded 13 kills, and Kelli Hogan, who posted 15 digs.
The Red Foxes will next be in action on Friday Oct. 1 when they travel to Providence to face the Friars at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday Oct. 2 when they take on the Harvard Crimson at 1:00 p.m.
