The Marist women's tennis team fell to Providence this afternoon, 4-2, in their second match of the day. Rookie Erin Godly and senior Diana Perachio each recorded a win during the contest.
In first singles, Yana Tikhonko was leading Jen Dagle, 6-2, 2-6, 5-4, when the match was called because of darkness. Perachio picked up her victory over Sarah Bettelli, 6-2, 6-4 in second singles. Megan Gureck fell to Molly Gibriese, 6-2, 6-0 in third singles, while Godly recorded a win over Amanda Lee in fourth singles, 6-0, 6-2. Marist's Courtney McGeever lost to Nicole Rodger, 7-6, 7-6 in fifth singles and Amy Albert fell to Lindsey Christianson, 6-4, 6-4 in sixth singles.
On the doubles side, Perachio and Godly lost to Dagle and Bettelli, 9-8 in the first matchup. Tikhonko and Gureck fell to Rodger and Gibriese, 8-2 in second doubles and McGeever and Albert lost in third doubles.
The Red Foxes will next be in action when they travel to Holy Cross on Wednesday Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m.
