Philadelphia, PA - The Red Foxes volleyball squad was in good form this afternoon as they came back from a one game deficit to down Hartford, three games to one. The game was the last of the weekend for the Red Foxes, who closed out their trip to Philadelphia with a 3-1 record. The Hawks came out strong in the first game, downing the Red Foxes 30-25. Sarah Watters' quickly rallied the troops and they responded with a 30-27 win in game two and a sound 30-21 victory in game three. Game four proved to be one of the most exciting of the match. With the win in their sights, the Red Foxes struggled early, falling behind 8-3 to the Hawks. They battled back to tie it at 12-12, forcing a Hartford timeout. The two teams traded points for the remainder of the game, finally coming out with the 30-25 win. Junior Katie Lux (Wantagh, NY) led the defense with 21 digs, while Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) and Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) each added nine. Cochrane paced the offense with a weekend-high 47 assists, spurring on the efforts of sophomores Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA) and Stephanie Miksch (Austin TX) who led with 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Hanson also led the Red Foxes with four service aces, one solo and three assisted blocks. Dominique O'Sullivan (Anaheim, CA) had a well-rounded match, recording nine kills, six digs and two service aces. Six different Red Foxes each had an ace on the day. The Hawks were led by Jennifer Monroy who had 18 kills and Lauren Flores who recorded 20 digs. For her efforts throughout the weekend, Hanson was named to the La Salle Invitational All-Tournament team. The Red Foxes will next be in action when they travel to Bethlehem, PA for the Lehigh Classic next weekend.
