The Marist volleyball team lost a four-game match to a solid Army squad at the McCann Center this evening. Marist senior setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, Calif.) was effective all over the court, tallying a team-high 14 digs, 39 assists and four kills.
The Red Foxes were impressive in game one, boasting a team hitting percentage of .387 to Army's .162. Junior Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) had five kills and two aces, leading her team to the 30-27 win. The Black Knights rebounded in game two, using solid defense to gain the 30-19 advantage.
Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) entered game three with a bang, tallying five kills to lead the Marist attack, but Army came out on top of the close game, 30-27. The Black Knights rallied in game four, hitting a whopping .462 as a team to take a decisive 30-17 victory and the match.
McEathron also registered a double-double, recording 11 kills and 13 digs, along with two service aces. Classmate Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) picked up 11 kills as well.
Briana Stremick was impressive for Army, hammering out a match-high 20 kills while Elizabeth Lazzari had a double-double on 15 kills and 12 digs.
