Fordham's 14 service aces and .301 hitting led its volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Marist this evening at the McCann Center. Marist setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, Calif.) was solid again with another double-double on 21 assists and 11 digs along with five kills.
Middle blockers Christy Lukes and Jackie Poston kept Marist going in game one, combining for seven kills and hitting .444 and .600, respectively. However, Fordham hit .381 as a team to take the game, 30-21.
The Red Foxes kept things close in an exciting game two, with Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) providing a spark off the bench, hitting .600. Fordham's Marija Markovic was dynamic en route to a total 15 kills to help propel her squad to the 30-25 win.
The Rams came out swinging in game three, taking a solid lead late in the game. Cochrane kept the Red Foxes going by serving for four-straight points at the end, but the Rams charged back to take a 30-21 victory.
Sophomore Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) led Marist with seven kills while Kenworthy and Poston finished the match with six and five kills, respectively.
Tasha Johnston posted a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs to pace the Rams.
The Red Foxes fall to 5-15 overall with the loss while Fordham improves to 16-9.
Marist has the week to prepare for next Tuesday's date with Central Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. at McCann.
