Lawrenceville, N.J. -
The Marist women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at MAAC opponent Rider this afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Nazarechuk (Ringwood, N.J.) made six saves in goal in her first start since returning from injury.
Rider's Amanda Scully scored at 29:26 in the first period off a cross from the left by Jenna Balestriere. The game was close for the next 50:00 as the Broncs took their 1-0 lead into halftime and neither team scored through much of the second half.
Scully would be the helper the next time around though as she found Stephanie Madden for the insurance goal at 75:46.
Senior Kat Murray (Pleasanton, Calif.) led the Marist attack with two shots. The Red Foxes took six shots overall to Rider's 12 in a physical match-up in which the two teams accumulated 31 fouls. With the loss, Marist falls to 3-8-1 overall (2-2 MAAC).
Marist will have the week to prepare for a pair of home conference games this weekend when the Foxes take on Canisius on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Niagara on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
